VAT Field Officers

The Value Added Tax (VAT) Implementation Project Office, in conjunction with the Inland Revenue Department, is presently conducting an island-wide field registration exercise. The public is notified that field officers will be undertaking a physical survey of business premises. The Officers will be involved in the verification and updating of information on business entities, and the registration of new enterprises currently in operation.

Saint Lucia to be VAT ready by April 2010

Having made the initial announcement in the Budget Address of 2007, the Government of Saint Lucia has committed itself to the implementation of a value added tax system.

Prime Minister Stephenson King, in a 2009 New Year’s address, indicated that the new tax will not be introduced before April 2010. In the interim, an implementation team has been setup, under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, to do all the preparatory work necessary for the introduction of a VAT.

New offices for VAT Project

The VAT Implementation Project Team has moved to new accommodation. The office is now located at #4 Bridge Street, Castries.

 

Mrs Jeanette Hughes, the Project Coordinator of the Implementation of VAT in Saint Lucia, said we have been given the mandate of preparing Saint Lucia for the implementation of a Value Added Tax. It is very important that the necessary preparatory work be done.
